I am so excited to have my friend and colleague Julie Neward on Episode 7 of The No No Show. She is a fierce advocate for sexual abuse victims with developmental disabilities and says people with disabilities are 7 times more likely to be abused than those without disabilities, and about 90% of them will be abused once within their lifetime. There's an epidemic of abuse in the United States for this population that is NOT be addressed adequately. Julie is leading the movement to make change happen in honor of her sister Natalie who was a victim. Julie is the founder of The Natalie Project and Co-Founder of the California Sibling Leadership Network. In this episode she calls out several organizations who are actively working to address this problem: Disability without Abuse Project, California Healthy Youth Act, Elevate Us, Mad Hatter Wellness, Accessible Sexual Health and SEEDS Therapy. In this episode, I also talk about a powerful song by Lady Gaga that is about this topic, and I give a Shout Out about voter registration in advance of the upcoming primary elections on March 5, 2024. Thanks for watching!
