Celebrating 2025 World Down Syndrome Day

Happy World Down Syndrome Day!  I like to use this day as an opportunity to raise awareness about what it's like to live with Trisomy 21.  Guess what?  It's not that much different than anyone else! We just have a few more medical conditions than most, but everything else is the same. We all want the same things out of life, and have the same basic human needs. And despite all the stereotypes and misconceptions, each person with T-21 is totally unique. If I leave you with anything on this day

The Rainbow Guide Book

I am proud to have contributed as a guest author to The Rainbow Guidebook. The Rainbow Guidebook is about understanding the lives and experiences of LGBTQ+ people with disabilities. It was created for allies and supporters, such as family members, medical professionals and service providers.  It’s an educational resource so they can learn how we want to be treated and supported.

Dispelling the Myths about Trisomy 21

For Down Syndrome Awareness Month, I recorded a short message to break down the stereotypes and misconceptions about people with the medical condition Trisomy 21 (also known as Down syndrome).  Two of my good friends, Dashiell Meier and Marissa Erickson joined me to share what they are proud to have accomplished in their lives. Please take a minute to watch, learn and join the conversation with us!  Anything is possible with LOVE!

Celebrating Women's Equality Day

August 26, 2024 marks the 104th Anniversary of adoption of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution giving women the right to vote. Women's Equality Day is a day to celebrate the trailblazers during the suffrage movement who made equality possible for women.  It is also a time to remember that our work is not over, as we continue to fight for equal rights.  Listen to what some of our women leaders have to say.  Senate President pro Tempore Emeritus Toni Atkins, Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen, and Senator Caroline Menjivar joined me in sharing a message for all women to get out and vote this November.  If you aren't registered, visit registertovote.ca.gov.  If you need assistance, visit disabilityvoteca.org

A Special Tribute for the Legendary Judy Huemann

In March, I celebrate Women's History Month and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month.  Judy Huemann, the mother of the disability rights movement, was the perfect person to honor for both of these momentous occasions.  I greatly admire Judy for being a trailblazer for women's rights, disability rights, equality, and inclusion.  Rest in Power Judy Huemann (1947 - 2023).

Celebrating World Down Syndrome Day

As a person with Down syndrome this day is really important to me.  Please watch this short 2 min video to better understand my personal viewpoint on how we view people with Down syndrome versus how we want to be viewed and understood.  Let's accept everyone for who they are first and foremost as a human being, and not their medical condition.  Join me in creating a LOVE REVOLUTION!

In honor of Martin Luther King, JR

Martin Luther King, Jr. is one of my personal heroes.  Today, the United States honors his life and legacy as a civil right icon.  He is a man who lead with his heart and above all else, he knew there was power in LOVE! Enjoy this video of some of my favorite quotes.

A Valentine’s Day Message: Love is Love

I wanted to record a short message about love for Valentine's Day.  Love is love, and it comes in all forms. Love should be totally unconditional and without judgment, no matter who you love.  Thank you for joining me for a LOVE REVOLUTION...love has the power to change the world.

A Tribute to Sinead O'Connor

The tragic passing of Sinead O'Connor really hit me hard.  It took me a few weeks to process her death and the impact she had on me.  She was one of my heroes --a trailblazer for equality, and someone I admire for speaking openly about her mental health struggles.  Rest in peace Sinead.
