Workgroup Member

The Administration for Community Living (ACL) invited me to participate in a workgroup on sexual orientation and gender identity. ACL is working with the Georgetown University National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC) on an important project called the Technical Assistance Project on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Data Collection.  More about the project:

  • In the past, people participating in ACL programs were only asked if they were male or female.
  • Now, people participating in ACL programs will also be asked about their sexual orientation and gender identity. The short way of saying this is SOGI.
  • Some people identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex.
  • The project will create resources that help ACL programs to collect SOGI information from all persons who participate in these programs.

ACL wants to learn from you!ACL and the NCCC are holding workgroups with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to help create the SOGI Resources.
